After a short delay issue_02 identity is here! Identity.
It’s at the heart of us. It is how we define our selves. It is how other define us. It can change, but it is how it stays the same that let’s us keep a grip on our values.
How does identity affect the built environment? How should it? Is identity important to the development of an place? Should it be protected? Is local identity under threat from commercial practice? Why? Should this be challenged or embraced? How flexible is identity?
Should a place’s identity be allowed to change, shift or even jump with time and development? Is identity really ever understood? Should more time be placed into the definition of identity, even its intentional mutation?
